Indy Fashion Time has announced the launch of the 5th Annual “UnZIP the Runway” designer competition and showcase. The show will take place on Friday June 1, 2012 at one of Indiana’s most elegant venues; The Indiana Historical Society, located at 450 W. Ohio Street, Indianapolis, In 46202. The doors will open at 7:45pm to view the intricate Papel Picado exhibition designed by International Artist Beatriz Vasquez. At 8:45pm don’t miss the Grand Entrance where models will strut into the designer competition, where 15 designers will compete for fantastic prizes: including Gift Certificates to The French Seam; Membership to LA based Fashion Business Incorporated; the IFT cash prize scholarship of $1,550 and over $12,000 worth of equipment sponsored by Baby Lock sewing machine industry.
The show’s line-up will also include a spectacular showcase from 3 amazing fashion designers on the rise and the finále will reveal the 2012 winners. The “UNZIP the Runway” event will be filmed for worldwide viewing. Both national and international press are invited to cover the event.
IFT- “UnZIP the Runway” is a unique opportunity for talented fashion designers, to gain experience, resources and prizes to help further their companies. “UnZIP the Runway “is an innovative event that also gives back to the community by hosting sewing empowerment workshops for area schools and community programs.
According to producer Dlang Ferguson, “The purpose of this exciting event is to create opportunities for novice and experienced professionals, while introducing fashionistas, buyers and the public to the designer.” She adds, “Fashion lovers will be in awe at the amazing creations, décor and model styling designed by the “UnZIP the Runway” team, Beatriz Vasquez and La Dolce Salon & Spa! I can’t wait to reveal everyone’s hard work and show the level of creativity involved in putting IFT- “UnZIP the Runway” together.”

The show will feature Chicago designers J. Cheikh, Narcisse Designs, Michelle Tan, Reddoll, and Imaginary People as they unveil their latest collections as well as a live musical performance by brothers Brandon and Lucas Marx, sons of legendary sing-songwriter Richard Marx. Also, the winner of Mario, Make Me a Model 2011 will be revealed at the end of the show, after the competition’s five finalists have completed their last challenge walking the runway among professional models.
